Eidolon

eidolon  (ειδωλον) (Language:  Greek)

Short Description:

image, idol, double, apparition, phantom, ghost

Long Description:

  • image or representation of an idea, idol, double, apparition, elusive entity or aspect of reality, phantom, ghost; in Homer, there are three kinds of supernatural apparitions that are called by the term eidolon:
  • the phantom (phasma), created by a god in semblance of a living person,
  • the dream-image, regarded as a ghostly double that is sent by the gods in the image of a real being,
  • the psyche of the dead; the Homeric psyche is not a soul, but a phantom, a thin vapor that proves to be ungraspable;
  • for Pythagoreans and Plato, psyche is no longer eidolon of the body, but the immortal soul that constitutes one’s real being; for Plotinus, the soul is the eidolon nou, a simulacrum of nous, an image that is already obscured; the conception of eidolon is partly related to the ancient Egyptian concept of ka.

The Black Calling

The Black Calling For the Purpose of Commanding the Eidolon to Leave a Soul

The Eidolon, which lives in Shadow, can be expelled from Shadow, thus to compel the Eidolon, the Command must be given unto the Shadow of the beleaguered host Soul.

Rites from Mesopotamia, the land of Persia and once helot Babylon, and the arising of many Monstrous Creatures and Demons of the ancient daye, give us the Black Calling to command the Eidolon forth.

A gathering of strong men of Faith for the purpose of Exorcism must occur. Each man must take a Naile of purest iron within his mouth, and so doing the Chief among them recites the words of the Rite while the men, with a Naile in each mouth drive the Nailes into the Shadow of the host Soul.

When this is done, the Eidolon is Compelled and must depart the host Soul and enter another.

A second Host must be branded with the Emblem of the Eidolon’s particular Identity or Name. THe Eidolon will be Compelled into that Shadow and Bodie of the second Host and therein it must and will forever stay until the host is killed. When Death doth take the Ritual Host, the Eidolon disapates. Though where it goes then, this Inquisitor knows naught.

Mən vaxt kənarda siz hayalet, kölgə və varlıq və pis etmək ağıl və ruh olmadan olmadan əsl özünü və parodi, gəlin bir atası yarpaq kimi və kimə adınız qeyd sizin ər evlənmək ana gəmi sizin iddia tərk etmək Ölüm sizi anadan zaman olmalıdır səni geçecek qədər, ömür bağlı olmalıdır.

I make you, ghost, creature of shadow and evil beyond time, parody of the true self, without psyche and without spirit, to leave your claim on the host vessel as a bride leaves her father and marry your husband whom is marked with your name, to be bound forever until death does take thee as it should have when you were born.

About

more demigod than demon, been along since the Trickster has. What matters more than its name, if it ever had one, is it's portfolio- what little people mobiles it rides around in, what primordial shadow of twisted nature it is. It won't stop unless someone makes it stop.

Perispirit

In Spiritism, the "perispirit" is the subtle body, sometimes seen as an aura, that is used by the spirit to connect with the perceptions created by the brain. The term is originally devised by Allan Kardec. In his analogy, as the germ of a fruit is surrounded by the perisperm so the spirit is surrounded by an envelope, designated as the perispirit.

This was a breakthrough concept, as the spirit had not been thought of as usually from its form (the ghost one saw was considered "the ghost itself", not the appearance of a ghost). Kardec studied the properties of what was then called "fluids" (electricity, magnetism, heat) and broadened the research towards those he termed "psychic" or "spiritual fluids". Both terms, especially the previous have stuck and are still used (or abused) up to now.

Properties of the Eidolon

The perispirit has the following properties:
It is made of the "Universal Cosmic Fluid,” the source of all matter;
It enclosed the spirit proper;
It gave the spirit an appearance drawn from his previous life or current state
It sends forth "fluidic" emanations that can affect those around;
Being "subtle" and semi-material.
It allowed the spirit to act over matter other than that of its body, to some extent;
It is constantly under change, and may eventually be harmed or destroyed.
It won't be necessary when spirits attain perfection.

Importance for mediumship

The perispirit plays a key role in the phenomenon of mediumship, which actually involves the interaction of the perispirit of the medium and that of a disembodied spirit. According to Kardec, it is though the perispirit that disincarnate spirits ... can move objects (poltergeist manifestations). Gnostics consider the perispirit the “garment of the soul,” and Ancient Greeks considered the eidolon in the same relationship with the psyche or daemon. Eidolon In popular culture

In the c64 game The Eidolon, the Eidolon is a vehicle crafted from wood and powered by magic used to navigate the map and destroy dragons. In Final Fantasy IV, Eidolons are the summons to help the party in battle. They live in a place that is set apart from civilization. A bond between a specified Eidolon and their summoner is unique. Once one dies, the other dies. In FF IX eidolons are entities that may be summoned by Garnet, and Eiko. In FF XIII eidolons are entities specific to each of the main cast of playable characters that can be summoned to help in battles.

In the game Hexen 2, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death) are bosses. They lead up to the final boss, Eidolon. The Marvel Comics superhero War Machine, a.k.a. James Rhodes, wore a living, symbiotic suit of armor known as the Eidolon Warwear. The suit could be retracted into a mandala on his chest, or released to outfit him with alien weaponry.

In the Star Wars Rogue Squadron series, the Eidolon was a redesigned Imperial Star Destroyer, though it was a ruse to steal galactic treasures.
