A routine follow-up for an overdue runabout exploring the Expanse leads to a search-and-rescue operation, a Ferengi-founded wildcat mining site, and a new threat to the peace that the Federation currently enjoys.

Captain's Log

Chief Engineer's Log

First Entry

The Dresden has been ordered to proceed to the Deep Space Anomaly Relay with critical parts and and personnel to complete its construction. In order to carry the full complement, a Klingon cruiser and a trio of civilian vessels have also been contracted for this mission. While I'm looking forward to the opportunity to work on the station, I have some concerns about the trip. I'm not sure the other vessels are, well, fully committed. I've taken the liberty of going back over the assignment of materials to make sure none of the civilians have ended up with everything absolutely critical (or valuable).

Second Entry

My bad feeling seems to have been warranted. One of the civilian vessels had suffered a drastic mechanical failure in their warp drive, forcing us to withdraw from warp to effect repairs. Unfortunately, the delay may effect our carefully plotted course. I proceeded by shuttle with parts, engineering and security crew to assist with repairs. Given the state we found the civilian's ship's engineering I found myself wishing I had simply replicated them a new warp system instead. However, we were able to stabilize the system and assemble at least enough of a repair for the vessel to make the rest of the trip to the Array. Mr. Eyvel has indicated some concerns about an earlier power surge he discovered, and has gone to review their vessel's transporter system.

Third Entry

It got worse. The sabotage to the engine system, we now know that it was Orion sabotage as Mr. Eyvel located the spy on the civilian vessel, failed during transit close to the anomaly, battered due to being off-time with the navigated course. Thankfully, the Captain had authorized me to stay aboard their vessel to monitor the repairs so I was on hand when the warp field collapsed and the transport started falling into an anomaly nexus. With some very quick work, and the assistance of the civilian crew, we were able to jury-rig the impulse engines and pull the vessel back to safety. Their vessel is going to need a full rebuild of the engine at this point.
