- Alberea and Eloise, twin sisters and consorts to Matteus de Taranto. Apothecary and herbalist services. Also midwives.
- Nichol - Former friar who makes some incredibly good illuminations, binds books and is a general scribe. Loves pursuing new knowledge, which often gets him into trouble.
- Reynfred - An up-and-coming chef, recently displaced from Nova Semitae for his willingness to cook food that wasn't kosher. Is intensely afraid of Eos.
- Suntje - A female blacksmith, went along with the Magi because she wouldn't be allowed to practice her craft anywhere else.
- Emma - Robert's wife and the original housekeeper of the Shrewberry Manor.
