Jax Bauer, whose real name is Jax Valen, is the son of Jedi knights Aayla Marh (mother) and Kass Valen (father). His mother Aayla met his father Kass while fighting at the Second Battle of Geonosis. At first they suppressed their feelings for each other but eventually they gave into those feelings. They left the Jedi Order in 20 BBY and married. Jax was born the following year (19 BBY) on the planet of Dantooine. After the destruction of the Jedi Order the family moved around the galaxy staying one step in front of the bounty hunters and Imperials. In 14 BBY they heard a rumor that the remaining Jedi were gathering to form a rebellion against the Empire. Jax mother Aalya could not be persuaded not go. She had set her mind trying to make a difference. She was never seen again. It was at this point that Jax’s father Kass decided to teach Jax the ways of the Force and train him as he had been trained in the Jedi Temple. Jax basically became an apprentice to his father. The continued to move around for another 11 years. Then while they were on Ord Mantell in the Mid Realm they ran into an old friend from the Republic days who claimed that he had seen Jax’s mother Aayla in a prison in the Kessel Sector. Kass knew this could be a trap but he had to try. He took his son Jax to Tatooine and left him with an old friend (Doctor Galus Zarn). Kass had saved Zarn's life many years earlier and they had become fast friends. Jax's father told him before he left to remember his training and to trust in the Force. He then left the planet and was never seen again. Jax stayed on Tatooine learning what he could from Dr. Zarn until he met the crew of the Flaming Cantina. He claimed he was competent mechanic in order to gain passage off of Tatooine.
