Kaltho the Hutt

The massive Hutt Kaltho belongs to one of the most prominent kajidics in Hutt Space. The key to his fortune lies in his ownership of some of the largestand busiest spaceports and private loading docks on Nar Shaddaa, the Smuggler's Moon. Through these holdings, he collects hundreds of thousands of credits in fees and bribes every day, as even other Hutts must pay for access to his facilities. This has allowed Kaltho to expand into numerous other fields, including shipping (or smuggling), heavy manufacturing, arms dealing, and the spice trade. Despite his incredibly lucrative holdings, Kaltho is known to shun most of the luxuries and excesses common to his station and focus with a cool head on his clan's ever-expanding criminal empire. His one indulgence is his appetite for rare and unusual delicacies—a hunger that has led him to execute a dozen master chefs in fits of distaste.

After escaping from Cloud City, the TLB crew offered Kaltho the Jewel of Yavin in exchange for a much smaller price as well as shielding the crew from Maris Greyson who was humiliated by the theft and forced to repay Kaltho. Kaltho was impressed by the crew's ability to steal the Jewel and subsequently escape. He remains a potential contact for work or to sell rare goods that might appeal to his particular appetites.

While the crew was waiting on Nar Shaddaa for its ship, Kaltho approached with news that Maris Greyson was still hunting for them. In exchange for running interference, he asked the crew to look into a new mine that he had won in a bet. While investigating, the crew found that a decade of neglect had caused the droids to revolt and start killing the mining staff. After freeing the miners and extensively documenting their findings, the crew presented it to Kaltho with recommendations on how to profit if he would invest in the infrastructure. Kaltho was impressed with the thoroughness of their work and offered TLB some contracts to ship new staff and equipment to the mine.
