KDY Wayfarer

The Flaming Cantina is a Wayfarer-class medium transport and the flagship vessel of Totally Legitimate Business, Inc.

The Wayfarer

The Wayfarer-class is constructed by Kuat Systems Engineering, a now-folded subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards, and was designed with a detachable portside section originally intended for modular reconfiguration, allowing it to load a passenger section, a hangar bay, or a pre-loaded cargo module into an armature extending from the starboard section. Production costs forced Kuat Systems Engineering to scale back their plans and create only the cargo module. The versatility offered by the detachable module was initially exciting, until it was revealed that neither the armature nor the designed cargo pod were designed to load standard cargo containers. This, combined with a vessel's comparatively high price tag, ensured the demise of the Wayfarer-class’s production.

Despite the flaws that kept the Wayfarer from becoming a huge commercial success, the ship’s versatility makes it a well-rounded vessel, and it's seen sufficient release to be a known sight in the galaxy. Wayfarer users typically fall into three categories: Wealthy and specialized direct-delivery manufacturers with the money to order dozens or hundreds of cargo pods; solo transporters in the outer rim where standard cargo containers are uncommon anyway; and enterprising individuals who have ordered custom cargo pods for special activities or deliveries.

Deck Plans

Crew Deck

This includes some updates, including consolidating the bathroom facilities by removing two of the showers, and replacing the old bathroom with a double bunked room, given the extra space.

Flaming-Cantina-Deck.png

Cargo Pod

In addition to whatever the Flaming Cantina is ferrying, both the Guardian 5E Personal Defense Speeder and Bric & Brac are located here. The independent power supply and life support module in the back has had some equipment removed in order to provide smuggling space. An overhead catwalk connects the crew deck, the engine room, and the ship tender.

Wayfarer Cargo Pod.png

Engine Room

Red spends a lot of time here tuning the engines and the hyperdrive for optimal use. Although completely against regulations, equipment and occasionally cargo is stored in here. An overhead catwalk connects the crew deck and the cargo pod.

Wayfarer Engine Room.png

Above Deck

Rarely used by the crew, the above deck is connected by a lift to allow access to maintenance areas involving the cargo pod armature. Conveniently, it provides access to the ship tender as well.

Wayfarer Abovedeck.png

Below Deck

Accessed primarily through a lift at the rear of the crew deck, the subdeck has access to much of the ship, including the store room for the kitchen, maintenance corridors that parallel the crew deck hallways, and access to the main engine room floor. The subdeck has been used multiple times both by the crew and incursion teams to move around the ship. These passageways are also used by S1-R1 to access most of the ship much faster than most people expect.

Life on the Flaming Cantina

  • Meals: Since bringing her on, Gwynnel has served as the ship's cook. However, given the realities of cooking for a large crew, this has meant that there is a fixed meal schedule and menu. This way, food can be prepared in bulk. Crew members or passengers who wish something else must wait until dinner service is finished before using the gallery to prepare their own food. The TLB crew has adjusted to this schedule for the most part, but passengers sometimes get finnicky. More than one passenger has been reminded that their ticket does not include personalized meal service and Gwynnel has had to make the point that she is not your average meek twi'lek female to be pestered about it. Due to Gwynnel's increasing responsibilities around the ship, cooking duties have been spread out so that every crew member must eventually take a turn preparing a day's meal. This has broken up the monotony of the menu schedule, though many crew members are less skilled at the task. After a particularly disastrous meal prepared by S1-R1 ("this meal fulfills all your nutritional requirements"), BS7-SAMI used some discretionary funds to purchas a used COO droid named Cookie from a restaurant having a fire sale. It has since taken over cooking duties on the Cantina. Although the stock droid comes with a limited recipe list, Red gave it a "brain upgrade" to expand its repertoire. Much like the binary load lifters, it is a mono-task droid that has extreme difficulty learning new things outside of preparing, cooking, and serving food.
  • Team B: The Flaming Cantina carries enough crew and droids to have a fully-staffed second team to handle ship operations as well as portside business. While the owners go off on their adventures, Jessiel carries out the task of moving cargo to warehouses, finding buyers, collecting payments, finding new cargo opportunities and otherwise handling the reserve crew. When necessary, Gwynnel has been known to fly the ship in the owners' absence, using the numerous droids to fill in missing crew roles. This is largely due to directed cross-training efforts by the TLB crew.
  • Housekeeping: During a stop over at Nar Shaddaa, BS7-SAMI "found" a maintenance droid and brought it to the Flaming Cantina to help keep up on internal cleaning duties, now that 41-VEX was assigned to the Bad Part of Town.
