Gold Crown

The section on the Gold Crown came up after a discussion on the subject. During that discussion, it was established that 1/100th of a Crown would pay for an unskilled laborer for a day. Because there is no reasonable way for a laborer to pay for anything if the smallest coin is a full day's wage, that 1/100th coin was named the "Sovereign" with a pence (percent) being listed at 1/100th of that. Comparisons to 1860's England (https://www.victorianlondon.org/finance/money.htm) allowed for the approximate equivalence of 1 crown = 3.2 pounds sterling or 1 Sovereign being 0.64 shillings or roughly a $1 (1860). Comparing to ~1917 wages shows a slight difference in equivalence, but not a dramatic change in how they scale. (Generally, some industry wages appear to drop because mechanization reduces the skill of the labor required.)
