Discription

The Aurum Trade Colony is a major endeavor by the Drake Dynasty to exploit the vast material resources of the planet Aurum while fulfilling their solum duty to integrate the planet into the greater Imperium. The Writ of Contact and, more importantly, the goodwill of the native population have given them a major advantage in establishing themselves over any other Rogue Traders or merchant houses who might want to attempt to follow up on Drake's discovery.

The Trade Colony itself is split between two main establishments - A developing starport and trade center outside the great city of Haistand and the space station The Cornucopia of Drake in stationary orbit above. The majority of both the administrative and support personnel for the colony are currently housed on the Cornucopia, with the starport acting as little more than a landing field and contact point.

The colony is founded with the commitment of the Cornucopia of Drake and expenditure of two profit factors. A promising cadet member of the Strophes family is tapped for colony administration.

Within six months it is clear that Lord Liversedge is a child of the aristocracy and completely out of his element managing a colony on a primitive world. Although he has accomplished some good-will works that impress both local and colony operations personnel, the colony's effectiveness is quickly disintegrating. Lord Drake intervenes directly to remove Hark Liversedge and, at after liquidating an additional profit factor, succeeds in keeping the colony from collapsing entirely. A new administrator, Prefectus Deangelo Nulaati, is recruited to control the refounded colony.
