The Temple district, also known as the Temple Precinct or Temple Court, was a series of city blocks on Coruscant jointly overseen by the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic until 19 BBY when the Declaration of a New Order dissolved the Order and the district was seized by the Galactic Empire. Established circa 5000 BBY when the Republic donated the sacred spire to the Order for their participation in the Great Hyperspace War, the early Jedi set up small facilities which eventually expanded over the centuries and was later known as the Jedi Temple. (From Wookiepedia)

In our game, we are really only concerned with is Temple Block, the centermost block of the Temple District and the one containing the actual Jedi Temple.

The Temple

Establishing Shot

Occupying the center-most Quarter of the center block and standing over 160 meters (500ft) tall, the Old Jedi Temple dominates the block as it does the entire district. The temple as four entrances; one on each cardinal point. Even though all but the west entrance is sealed, all four doors are guarded against entry by elite Shadowtroopers under the command of Imperial Senate Sentinels.

The Shadowtroopers and Senate Sentinels will not leave their post, regardless of other events. They will however engage hostiles found within a reasonable range of the door they are charged with guarding.

The Temple Court

Temple Area

The roof of the majority of the Temple Block has been flattened at or just below the level of the Jedi Temple entrances, creating what is effect a huge plaza for nearly a three hundred feet (100m) in every direction. While appearing almost level compared to the temple or the surrounding structures, the court actual varies in level by nearly thirty feet (10m) as it passes through a series of decorative ridgelines, avenues and open spaces.

The Temple Court is typically split into four rough sections based on the cardinal directions. West Temple Court, which will be illuminated by the sunset, is the location of the Empire's temporary arena installation for the Military show.

Parameter Development

Despite it's connection the Jedi Order and the republic, Temple Block is just to valuable of real-estate to allow to fall to ruin. The Temple Court, in particular, is a valuable resource of open space that is rare on Coruscant and in high demand. In an effort to encourage its use, as well as to demystify the area, the city government has authorized limited construction around the parameter of the Temple Court.

Notable Structures

Quix

The premier lounge on the Temple Court, Quix is one of the iconic new developments for the block. It is in the middle of the western edge.

Imperial Substation Aurek-557

The dramatic number of visitors the Temple Court as seen since it was opened to the public all but required the expansion of the local garrison to include a police substation, particularly with Jedi no longer taking a role in peacekeeping. This fairly wide one story structure (plus three basement stories and a small second story) serves the Temple Block.

The substation is located on the North-West corner of the Block and has a ten meter no-construction zone around it. The interior corner is primarily glass-steel, and contains the main entrance. A series of detection and communication devices dot the roof. The substation includes landing facilities intended for ten, though the Imperials have been packing the shuttles in particularly close in an effort to squeeze in more.

If the ISB or CSF meter goes go high (20+) the station will start clearing out the shuttles they can land the incoming reinforcements. If they cap out, the station goes into lockdown and fortifies the precinct.

Relay Station

While not technically on the block, the Relay Station is intrinsically tied to it. The amount of commlink traffic in the area (due to increased civilian traffic) quickly overwhelmed the limited local capacity. In response, a local communications company has installed a large but ultimately temporary communications tower just off the South West corner of the Court on one of the highest levels in the area. The tower can be accessed by passing through the office complex it is atop of.
