The Chimera is a rugged, well armed APC produced across thousands of worlds in the Imperium.  Unlike the Rhino, the Chimera STC is a dedicated military vehicle, serving as the chassis for transports, artillery and support vehicles.  The vehicle is fully enclosed, sealed environment capable of protecting the crew and passengers inside from chemical and biological weapons, nuclear fall out or even the open Void.  In addition, the crew and passenger compartments are sealed separately, allowing properly equipped passengers to disembark without endangering the crew.  In normal atmosphere conditions, the passengers can also open the top hatch for air or to use as a fire point.  The passenger compartment also has six mounted lasguns in it on sealed swivels, but provides the passengers no way to aim them without opening the top hatch. The Chimera has a top speed of 70 kph (45 mph), though some of the artillery variants are slower due to the heavy load.

The only external difference between the normal and command versions of the chimera, besides some decorations, is the inclusion of an orbital uplink dish.  Internally, a large amount of the free cargo room in the passenger compartment has been replaced with communications gear, tactical readouts, maps projectors, and a cognator.  Although still technically able to hold twelve still, the comfortable maximum is closer to nine. Drake's personal command chimera has been further modified to provide maglock pads for the Thunderhawk Transporter.
Command Variant
The only external difference between the normal and command versions of the chimera is the inclusion of a whip arial or (in the case of House Drake's) an orbital uplink dish.  Internally, a large amount of the free cargo room in the passenger compartment has been replaced with communications gear, tactical readouts, maps projectors and a cognator.  Although still technically able to hold twelve still, the comfortable maximum is closer to nine.

The Trojan version of the chimera removes the turret and refits the passenger compartment as a cargo compartment, complete with internally or externally controlled loading crane.  In addition to it's own cargo capacity, it includes a towing hook for the attachment of one or more supply trailers, allowing it to pull entire supply trains.  It operates with a crew of two, the commander taking over the gunners position.  Given the trojan's non-combat role, this is rarely a liability.  House Drake owns two of these.

Leman Russ
The Leman Russ is the main Battle Tank of the Imperial Guard. This rugged and dependable tank has been used for centuries and while fundamental changes in construction and appearance have occurred its capabilities have changed very little, able to operate in a variety of environments and withstand enemy fire while delivering powerful tank-killing blows. It was named after Leman Russ, the Primarch of the Space Wolves.

The main battle tank of the Imperial Guard and the mainstay of armoured regiments across the Imperium, the Leman Russ is produced in the millions on Forge Worlds and in Hive factories across the Imperium. While slow in comparison to other Guard vehicles and lacking in advanced technology, its ruggedness and reliability are the tank's defining attribute. Emphasizing heavy firepower and armour over mobility, it is rare for any Imperial Guard force to engage an enemy army without the support of Leman Russ tanks. The Leman Russ design has been in service for millennia, a testament to its simple but efficient and easily producible design, making it arguably the most successful tank in the galaxy.

The main gun of the Leman Russ is its turret-mounted Battle Cannon, a 120mm smoothbore gun which can equally decimate enemy infantry and tanks. A water-cooled jacket surrounds the cannon while gyrostabilisers ensure accurate targeting while on the move. Aiming the weapon done through a dedicated periscope with a 45° field of vision and is assisted withTargeter gear[4] such as laser-rangefinders. Auspex guidance such as landscape readers and crosswind indicators provide additional information to assist in locating and targeting the enemy. Secondary armament will generally consist of a Lascannon in the forward hull mount with a 90° field of fire.

The Leman Russ' armour is not the most sophisticated but is practical and rugged, allowing it to weather the harshest environments or enemy fire. A reinforced cast plasteel hull and turret[3a] with ferro-steel armour plating combine to make it proof against all but the most deadly attacks. Even impacts powerful enough to lurch the tank several meters sideways will fail to penetrate through its tough hide, though such attacks can damage secondary systems such as the forward scopes and leave the crew stunned. This armour is thickest on the tank's front, with decreasing thickness along the sides and rear, to prevent the engine from overheating or over-straining the transmission.

The sturdy, efficient engine which powers the Leman Russ can run on practically any type of fuel and keep the vehicle moving even in the most hellish conditions, while secondary systems such as life support and electrics are powered by internal generators. While a slow vehicle the tank's track arrangement means it exerts a low amount of ground pressure which, combined with fine regenerative steering, allows it to perform almost balletic maneuvers. Hard-wound steel spring shock-absorbers provide added stability on the move.

A minimum of four crew are required to operate the Leman Russ, with two more needed to man the sponson weapons if mounted, though they must do so without comfort in a cramped, hot and noisy environment. The sponson gunners are the most junior members of the crew, responsible for manning the cramped sponson weapons and otherwise aiding the other members in any tasks. Above them is the loader, responsible for loading the main gun and, as needed, manning the hull-mounted weapon. Outside of combat his job will be to keep track of the tank's logistical needs and ensure it has been re-armed and refueled prior to battle. The driver is next in seniority, a highly technical job responsible for not only driving the tank but also primarily responsible for the basic maintenance of the tank's running gear. When stationary the driver can man the hull-mounted weapon, though this practice is discouraged by most since it leaves the tank immobile. The gunner is tasked with firing the tank's primary weapon, along with any co-axial weapons, and also functions as the tank's second-in-command. Between battles his responsibility is to clean and maintain the tank's weapons. The tank commander directs the other crewmembers and is responsible for maintaining an overall picture of the battle, keeping in contact with other tanks through external communication equipment, and manning any pintle-mounted weapons.

The Leman Russ Exterminator is a common and prolific variant of the Leman Russ Battle Tank used by the Imperial Guard and on occasion, the Space Wolves Chapter. It mounts a twin-linked Autocannon instead of the more common Battle cannon, making it more of an infantry hunter than an all-round battle tank.

The Exterminator's twin Autocannons are synchronised to fire bursts of heavy caliber, high-velocity shells equally effective against infantry and light vehicles, making it an ideal platform for combating hordes of Orks or Tyranids. In addition to its ability to lay down a withering hail of fire the Exterminator is also faster than a Leman Russ thanks to the reduced size of its weapons. Many tank companies will include at least one Exterminator to use in the reconnaissance role, ranging ahead of the company to seek out enemy tanks. Exterminators are also frequently attached to their parent regiment's reconnaissance company, providing it with heavier firepower without negatively affecting the unit's speed and mobility. In an emergency the Extermiantor has also been used as a stopgap anti-aircraft tank; although its ability to throw up a wall of fire against enemy attacks may enjoy some excess, the tank's lack of elevation and proper targeter gear limits its utility in this role.

The Exterminator is generally equipped with Heavy Bolters in its hull mount and (if equipped) side sponsons to provide additional firepower. The hull mount can instead be fitted with a Heavy Flamer or Lascannon as well as Heavy Flamers, Multi-meltas or Plasma Cannons on the sponsons. A Searchlight and Smoke Launchers are standard on the Exterminator and it can be upgraded with Camo Netting, a Dozer Blade, Extra Armour, a Hunter-Killer Missile and a pintle-mounted Heavy Stubber or Storm Bolter. The variant the Drake Household has acquired mounts heavy bolters on both sponsons and a heavy bolter in the hull. It has been given the affectionate name "Metal Storm".

The Leman Russ Demolisher is a specialist Siege Tank designed for short-range bombardment based on the Leman Russ Battle Tank chassis. It is the most common variant of the main battle tank, used typically for urban and siege warfare. The main difference between the original Leman Russ and the Demolisher variant is its armament. The primary weapon of the tank is its turret-mounted Demolisher Cannon, a powerful short-ranged cannon equally effective in destroying buildings and bunkers as it is enemy tanks and infantry. The cannon has an effective range of one kilometer and in some patterns includes a carousel automatic loader and automatic shell ejector system.

Due to its mission role as a siege tank the Demolisher tank is fitted with additional armour plating compared to standard tanks Its suite of auspex sensors includes passive night vision, laser range-finder and a laser warning system. The V12 air-cooled multi-fuel engine used in some patterns produces 840 horsepower and gives the tank an operational range of 250 kilometers on-road (100 kilometers off-road); this can be extended an additional hundred kilometers through the use of optional 100 litre auxiliary tanks.

The Rhino is a tracked armoured troop produced by the Imperium of Man, its use entrusted to only the most loyal of soldiers: the Space Marines, Sisters of Battle, Adeptus Arbites and the Inquisition. The Rhino has been in service throughout the history of the Imperium. As an Standard Template Construct vehicle, the Rhino dates back to the distant time of Mankind's initial colonisation of the galaxy. Originally named "RH-1-N-0 Tracked Exploration and Multi-Purpose Defense Vehicle," it was used to explore newly colonised worlds.3 First field-tested on Mars, the Rhino as it came to be known was a success, thanks to its extreme dependability and capability of being produced from any locally available material, as well as make use of any semi-combustable fuel source.

The Rhino operates with a crew of two, a driver and a gunner who operates the vehicle turret with a remote firing system. The Rhino can comfortably transport Ten Astartes or pack in twenty regular humans uncomfortably. Note that the Rhino is not a sealed environment.

At its most basic level the Rhino MkIIC is an armoured carrier with large tracks designed to cope with any terrain and protect its passengers from harm. It is such a basic design, constructed from almost any material and powered by any semi-combustible material, that little has changed throughout its 10,000 year history. Such is its resiliency that damaged sustained in battle can often be repaired in the field by the crew themselves.

Powerlifter Sentinel
A Sentinel is a bipedal, all-terrain walker used by the Imperial Guard for a number of missions including reconnaissance and search-and-destroy. The Sentinel achieves movement with a pair of articulated legs, which allow for both maneuverability in dense environments and bursts of speed on open terrain. They are fitted with advanced gyro-stabilizers to improve their balance, and their powerplants include noise-reduction technology for stealthy operation.

The first Sentinels produced had open canopies, although modifications to up-armour the vehicle also became commonplace. These Armoured Sentinels have recoil compensators in place of additional gyro-stabilizers which allow them to fire heavier weapons, as well as Auspex arrays to assist in its hunter-killer mission. The standard Sentinel's weapon load has always been a rapid firing weapon, which was originally an Assault cannon. Later models however show a divergence in armament, with the Multi-laser being the most common, while other weapons include a Heavy Flamer, Autocannon, Missile Launcher, Lascannon or Plasma Cannon.
Razorback
The Razorback is an up-gunned variant of the standard rhino, created by mounting a full-sized turret over the rear passenger compartment. Ammunition stores for these more powerful weapons half the size of the passenger compartment, but this is generally considered a fair trade-off for a light tank's worth of firepower.  In the case of the Las/Plas turret, the driver is provided with controls to allow for operating the weapon, not in use by the gunner, though it's impossible to use while still driving the vehicle.  Like the Rhino, the Razorback is not a sealed environment.

Besides the addition of more armour or different weaponry, Sentinels can be modified in a multitude of ways. The most common include adding Camo Netting, a searchlight, smoke launchers, and/or a Hunter-Killer Missile. Other adaptations can be made depending on where the Sentinel operates, such as servo-driven claw spikes for a better grip when walking over glacial planes.

Sentinel Powerlifters are a rear-echelon variant used primarily for loading and unloading equipment and supplies. These Sentinels are equipped with large hydraulic claws, also known as a Powerlifter, easily capable of crushing a man to death, along with a counterweight mounted on the rear to prevent it from tipping over. They are a common sight on airfields, space ship flight decks, and artillery positions, but will only be called upon to defend their position as a last desperate measure.
