			The Archangel Raphael, who's true vessel was discovered to be Dr. Airy, first appeared in the show as a guardian and ally of the hunter team, providing them with occasional bits of lore or assistance in their efforts to keep the horrors of the coming apocalypse from ravaging across America. In season two, after the apocalypse was discovered to have been averted by the Winchesters, Raphael becomes more distant from the team as he leads one of the factions in heaven. In the end, it is revealed that he desired to restart the apocolypse, and was using Airy and the team as a trump to use after Castiel expended his energy eliminating a substandard vessel. This plan backfired when Castiel opened purgatory, gaining enough power to completely destroy the archangel. His sudden demise may have lasting effects on Dr. Airy and the team.
