Alistair was born February 5th, 1950. He was the son of two industrious farmers in Medocino County. He was a brilliant student, graduating High School at 15 1/2. He applied to and was admitted to UC Chico that fall.
Finding no challenge in sleepy UC Chico, he dropped out and was promptly drafted into the military (draft started in 1964). He had an aptitude for the military arts and soon found himself as a part of a Special Forces "A" team. They were sent to Laos, where they were part of the "Hearts and Minds" initiative.
They were out on patrol when they were ambushed. Moody was left for dead, a kill-shot in his right eye. He was discovered by the villagers of Can Thu'y and taken to their shaman for healing. She tended him, teling him that the "demons" didn't like him, and that he needed to live to fight them. When they brought him back to the base, he was med-evaced back to a US field hospital. Still walking with a crutch. he returned to his team.
Hiking out to thank the shaman of Can Thu'y, he saw the village and the area around it napalmed and bombed. He "saw" demons dancing in glee as this happened. (The 'friendly fire' incident was later written off.) He was injured again, and ended up being medivaced back to the States. He was honorably discharged, with a note in his medical jacket that he'd "gone mental" - Classification 3Y.
He came home to Mendocino, and proceeded to stay stoned, unable to cope with what his damaged eye showed him. He was rescued by Aunt Agatha,who convinced him that he saw was real. She taught him to deal with it and sent him to UC Davis to complete a biology degree with an emphasis in Botany. He has been there ever since, and is now a full Professor, with an specialization in Global Ecology. He recently became interested in possible genetic adaptions to climate change by common plants, and enlisted Amanda Grey's assistance in collecting specimines. He has her collecting soil samples, water samples, plant tissues and air samples; and humidity, wind and light readings.
