Some suggestions:

Virtues

  • Vernacular Education
General, Minor
This form of secular instruction given by tutors to the scions of merchant houses, emphasizes practical skills likely to make the student suited to a leadership role in the family business. The character may purchase Academic Abilities during chargen creation. He also gains 50 additional experience points, which must be spent on Academic Abilities, Bargain, Organization Lore of the character's company, Profession Merchant, or the language of trade in the company's region (usually Latin, Greek, or Arabic)

From the main book:

  • Well-Travelled - easy to explain
  • Ways of the Town - He's very comfortable in towns and knows how to make it work for him. Virtually all rolls within a town gain a +3
  • Wealthy - you are a rich member of your class (though in this case, he's more like a rich merchant class; the title is new) - if he's supported by his family still, despite being knighted, he can spend 3 seasons/year doing whatever he likes instead of 2 seasons/year
  • Educated - received extra training from tutors
  • Gossip - lots of social contacts, hear (and set) rumours
  • Learn (ability) from Mistakes - gain 5xp every time you botch or fail an (ability) roll by exactly 1 point
  • Privileged Upbringing - gain ability to learn any kind of skill (except Arcane); extra xp
  • Social Contacts - pick a social circle; you have many acquaintances in this circle. Whenever you're in a new area, there's a chance you "have a buddy" in the area. May be taken multiple times with different circles
  • Temporal Influence - You enjoy some political weight in certain societies

Flaws

  • Close Family Ties - perhaps he's still quite close to his family, even if they think he was stupid for sleeping with the Baroness
  • Favors - if he got help with something at some point in the past, he owes someone help with something in the future
  • Feud - The family is in a feud with another family of equal strength
  • Dependents - All that sleeping around may come knocking on the door one day saying, "Are you my daddy?"
  • various Personality traits -- although I think one is covered already
