Nova Semitae Saga Journal | Session 2 »

Winter 1220 Season

The first session was a short one, introducing a few of the magi who began arriving in December 1219, just prior to the start of the "Winter 1220" season. Geoffrey of House Jeribon was the first to arrive in the company of Angharad, youngest daughter of Prince Madog of Powys Fadog (in Wales), returning from pilgrimage to Rome.

Eos of House Tytalus was guided in by a Redcap who heard the young magus was looking for a new home. Eos hailed from the Hibernian Tribunal and spent most of the last year

Veloxia of House Bjornaer came next, led by a Redcap of the Normandy Tribunal, the lovely Isabelle d'Arras. Her (to western ears) heavily accented Latin spoke of her long journey from eastern Christendom. Her Heartbeast was that of an exotic African giant cat, a cheetah.

Obscurus Ignis of House Flambeau arrived from the Normandy Tribunal, lured by the invitation of a covenant seeking to replace members.

These four met the sole magus still at the covenant, Neanne of House Verditius who was also the covenant's current Princeps (leader). Two other magi were travelling. Aulus of House Bonisagus was travelling about England, while Fr. Thomas, House Ex Miscellaenea was on pilgrimage to the monastery of St. Catherine of Alexandria for a relic to house at the chapel built just west of the village. They were all housed and welcomed, and told to expect a swearing-in at the next covenant meeting.

The magi discovered that the covenant and village were rather well-off, and majority jewish -- which made it strange outside of the Levant. Due to inherent magical qualities, as well as rituals and other magical assistance, the covenant and village made a good living on agriculture and livestock.

The new magi participated in the harvesting of the first vis source of the year, "the Boar Tide". An unusually large tide rushed down the river four times a year, with the leading wave frothing as if being charged downriver by a large number of boars. The magi used their spellcasting prowess to collect the froth in various ways and bottle it.
